Alpha Mixed Martial Arts
BRINGS HOME SILVER MEDALS FROM USA COMPETITION.

nagaCompetitors from Carleton Places’ newest martial arts school have just been awarded silver medals in a recent international NAGA mixed martial arts competition in Las Vegas Nevada. NAGA, or the North American Grappling Association, is one of the worlds most popular and influential martial arts associations.  Alpha competitors received silver medals in the Gi and no-Gi contests.

Silver medals were awarded to:

Lisa Tanguay for the NO-GI Women’s Advanced Light Heavy Weight division and another for the GI Women’s Blue Belt Middle Weight division.

Peter Tremblay for the NO-GI Directors Advanced Heavy Weight division and another for the GI Directors Blue Belt division.

Steve Moffat for the NO-GI Masters Advanced Middle Weight and another for the GI Masters Blue Belt Welter Weight division

naga“Winning silver medals at the Las Vegas NAGA competition is really exciting for myself and my students,” said Peter Tremblay, “we have worked extremely hard for this and to place second in all or events is really rewarding.  Las Vegas is the home of several world class mixed martial arts schools run by UFC super stars and renown masters like Randy Couture’s team, Mark Laimon’s team, John Lewis’s team and others from from many disciplines.  The fact that we placed so highly in all our events really says something for the quality of our school and students!”

nagaTremblay also has a special mention for senior Alpha student Val Biasotto withdrew from competition due to an injury.  “Val broke a rib, but wanted to continue.  The referee heard it, I heard it and his opponent heard it.  Val wanted to continue but I had him withdraw for safety sake.”

Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) is a hybrid sport allowing participation by all martial arts and hand-to-hand combat styles. It is the next evolution in the art an science of self-defense, bringing the best from karate, kickboxing, jiu-jitsu and wrestling!  As a result, participants must be well rounded in stand-up striking and grappling techniques. In MMA, the safety of the fighters is paramount. The introduction of rules and regulations that help ensure the safety of participants has contributed to the popularity and meteoric rise of the sport.

Alpha Mixed Martial Arts is the newest martial arts school in Carleton Place, located at 152 Beckwith Street.  Alpha offers both kickboxing and MMA classes for children, teens and adults.  Alpha is pleased to offer fun and exciting classes for men, women and children!
