Alpha MMA Brings Home Silver Medals From USA Competition!

They laughed when I told them I had joined martial arts…

...but their laughter soon turned to amazement when they saw the results!

… and rightly so!  I had lost a ton of weight, I had much more energy, I had that skip in my step again, and I felt GREAT!

Mixed Martial Arts:
MMA is a hybrid sport allowing participation by all martial arts and hand-to-hand combat styles. As a result, participants must be well rounded in stand-up striking and grappling techniques. In MMA, the safety of the fighters is paramount.  The introduction of rules and regulations that help ensure the safety of participants has contributed to the popularity and meteoric rise of the sport.  Alpha MMA offers a safe and challenging activity for teens, men and women.

Kickboxing:
A martial art related to western boxing, but incorporating strikes with the legs. Alpha MMA kickboxing is a combination of conditioning, flexibility and well regulated striking techniques.  Kickboxing is popular as a fun fitness activity as well as an effective martial art.  Participants can compete in several levels of kickboxing, ranging from points and light contact, to continuous fighting to full contact. 

Both MMA and kickboxing are a fun and challenging activity for people wanting to get in shape, as well as serious athletes looking for an exceptional level of competitive training. 

Both activities are great for individuals, but are even more fun when the entire family is involved!

At first I thought that martial arts was the last thing I would be interested in.  I mean getting kicked and punched wasn’t even close to my idea of fun – or exercise.  I thought you’d have to be a bit twisted to enjoy that.

Then I had heard how several women had lost some weight doing martial arts.  I admit I was a bit curious how that would happen – I mean don’t you have to be in rock hard shape to be a fighter?

I did some research and found that it was nothing like I thought!  It’s quite common to see more women in a martial arts class than men! 

There’s kicking and punching – pads that is.  The training isn’t exactly easy but it’s not difficult either.  Ask anyone who trains at Alpha and you’ll get the same answer – “I LOVE IT!”

Times have changed and so have we!!! 

Take Lisa for example.  Here is a woman, a busy mother of two, who has made amazing changes (not just weight loss!) in her life just by taking the martial arts program at Alpha Mixed Martial Arts.
